Activities of the Institution "Bellesozaschita"

GOALS

  • increasing the biological stability and productivity of forests, preserving their environment-forming functions,
  • maintenance of biodiversity in forest ecosystems,
  • compliance with the norms and rules for ensuring radiation safety in the forest fund areas that have been exposed to radioactive contamination as a result of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Main goals
  • ensuring the protection of the forest fund from pests and diseases of the forest, adverse environmental factors;
  • implementation of state control over the state, use, protection and protection of the forest fund, reforestation;
  • protection of forest fund territories from emergency situations;
  • leadership of the Radiation Control Service of the Ministry of Forestry;
  • organization and control of radioactive contamination of the forest fund, forest products and products of its processing, forestry facilities and workplaces;
  • implementation of a unified scientific, technical and investment policy in matters of control of radioactive contamination of the forest fund.

STRUCTURAL UNITS

DEPARTMENT OF FOREST PATHOLOGICAL MONITORING AND FORECASTING:

– Forest pathological examination of plantations and non-closed forest plantations damaged by pests and diseases of the forest and development of measures to prevent and reduce damage from their harmful effects;

– Providing methodological and advisory assistance to forestry institutions in organizing general and detailed supervision, forming a network of reconnaissance and pheromone supervision;

– Assessment of the threat of forest damage from pests and diseases, development of a system of measures aimed at maintaining the sustainability of forests, preventing or reducing damage from adverse environmental factors;

– Conducting laboratory analysis and diagnostics of forest pests and diseases, assessing the quantitative and qualitative state of their populations and determining the feasibility of designing protection measures;

– Collection, analysis and generalization of primary data of forest pathological monitoring;

— Carrying out phytopathogenic control of soils selected in forest nurseries.

FOREST PEST AND DISEASE CONTROL DEPARTMENT:

– Forest pathological examination of plantations and non-closed forest plantations damaged by pests and diseases of the forest and development of measures to prevent and reduce damage from their harmful effects;

– Participation in the organization of work on the prevention, localization and elimination of foci of pests and diseases of the forest;

– Performance of work to protect plantings, objects of a permanent forest seed base in forest fund areas, forest nurseries from pests and diseases;

– Implementation of management of the work of subordinate organizations to ensure the timely and high-quality implementation of forest protection measures;

— Collection, compilation and analysis of departmental reporting. Development of measures to protect forest fund sites;

— Carrying out registration tests of plant protection products to expand the scope and range of their application in forestry.

FOREST RADIATION MONITORING DEPARTMENT :

– Organization and conduct of radiation survey of the forest fund: forest quarters, cutting areas;

— Monitoring of radioactive contamination at permanent observation points, control sites of the industry network of radiation monitoring;

– Generalization, systematization and analysis of the results of control of radioactive contamination of the forest fund, forest products;

— Updating the databases of the Information System “Radioactive Contamination of Forests. RadFor”, support in the forestries of the IS “RadFor”, the peripheral version of “RadForView” (since 2021, the cartographic service “RadForInfo”)

— Methodological support of the activity of the radiation control service of the industry.

DEPARTMENT OF RADIATION SAFETY:

– Organization and implementation of radiation monitoring of forest products – wood (commercial wood and firewood), wood products, products of secondary forest management;

– Radiometric measurements of objects of radiation survey, radiation monitoring of the forest: soil, wood and its parts, ground cover plants, berries, mushrooms;

— Ensuring the quality system for performing radiometric measurements in the radiation monitoring departments of the industry;
